Pew Research Center says combined Kalshi and Polymarket volume reached $53 billion in July 2026, up from $26 billion in May. That figure is Pew’s trading-volume count for those two venues.

BeInCrypto, citing CryptoRank, reported $188 billion of prediction-market volume in the third quarter of 2026. The same piece says contracts are counted at $1 notional, so cash paid is lower than the headline.
What did the Illinois court decide on October 2?
Judge Martha Pacold granted preliminary relief to Kalshi, Coinbase, and the CFTC against several Illinois prediction-market rules. A proposed fee tax is still open, and injunction language is due by October 29.
